Bedhead Mom Series: Clocking In

Not all moms have the opportunity to stay home with their kids and many more work from home. And while being a SAHM is tough, I can’t imagine how tough it would be to work outside the home, only to then have to “clock in” as soon as you walk through your front door. I feel privileged that I was able to catch this mom on her “day off” to be able to sit down and chat with her for a moment.

This is Tracine

Mom to Muffin

She is learning to juggle

And this is her bedhead

Well, actually, this is her Muffin!

And nothing makes Tracine happier than seeing her crazy and happy.

As a “working” mom, she shares, “The biggest challenge is when I come home from work. I have to leave everything there and totally disconnect and give 100% to the family. Sometimes it is so distracting, especially if I try to work from home, because I have to go into a totally different zone. I have to be able to not look at my iPhone, not look at email— totally disengage. Separating of the two is what I found to be the only thing effective in creating the balance I need.”

It is a tricky thing to juggle both work and home, but she has found what works for her… her amazing support and husband, Juan.

“I didn’t alway picture myself as a mom. I didn’t get married until I was in my 30’s and so I wasn’t sure if I was ever going to be a mom. {She gets a little choked up} But I always wanted it. I think as soon as I met Juan I imagined it.”

She is grateful because when she can’t be there, he can. And that relationship is so important. Come the teenage years, when a mother-daughter relation can be strained, she hopes their “alliance” will payoff in a good way.

As for what she does on her “day off,” she does the usual…

Feeds the baby…

Cleans up after the baby…

Checks on the garden…

And smile at Muffin as she picks the only tomato in the garden.

She turns to Muffin, “You are very happy.”

And she is because of YOU!

A good reminder to all “working” moms and dads.
