I couldn’t have done what I did for Start Up Weekend Women’s Edition without the help of this girl. In fact, I was only attending it because she convinced me, a 31 year old mother of 4 with no business background, that this would be an awesome opportunity to get my app, Five Joys, started. It seemed like a long shot but I took the leap and I am so glad I did. The details of that trip will be fully recounted at Fivejoys.com in the next few days… Crying could very well sum up the experience for me and the weather in Seattle most of the time. Hehe.
This is Jessica
She is amazing
Her favorite word is Joy
And this is her bedhead…
Just barely 20 this girl is making her mark on the world. Her smile is brilliant! Her eyes squint and her face shines whenever she is with you.
I thought, when staying at her place, that she had placed around the room pieces that said “joy” on them just for kicks since the app we were developing was based on joy. Come to find out, this is just something that she surrounds herself with all the time!
I now know why she is one of my biggest supporters!
She is a great listener and compliments others constantly; stopping one little brunette girl to tell her how beautiful her eyes were. I love that! Who does that?
Her job may be to help people get their businesses off the ground through research and marketing, but that isn’t her only focus. Having worked with her over the weekend I could feel that she was just as invested in my well being as the project.
While making others happy is what she thrives on it isn’t always an easy task.
I wasn’t always the funnest to be around. The fact that she can be in the business world on a daily basis and still have such a positive outlook on life is outstanding!
This is a picture of her after a long night of working things out for Five Joys. We only had 54 hours to get a business presentation ready. It was actually the most stressful thing I’ve ever done. Give me a pregnancy and natural birth over this any day! Business is not for the week at heart.
I don’t know if she knew exactly what she was signing up for when she joined our team. She actually set aside her project to help out with mine. I can’t thank you enough, Jessica, for being as selfless as you were. I owe you so much!

There may not be many sunny days in Seattle, but the days there is it is a rare treat! Jessica is that rare Seattle Sunset! Amidst all the stresses of getting a start up off the ground it was nice to have that person I could turn to for guidance and peace.
Now if I only had 5 of her I’d be set!
