Look Closer

Take a minute this evening to reflect on the details of this beautiful face.

What do you see?

Look Deeper

All of these pictures were taken while she was in the midst of conversations with some good friends. I don’t know why, but capturing the emotions on faces while people are talking, thinking or listening is my favorite thing to do.

I can tell that it brings her so much joy and makes her already radiant face light up even more.

Next time you are talking with someone, take notice of the beauty that lies in their expressions and in conversation itself.

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

The sun flair was trying to add a little too much of it’s own blush:)

Nothing lights up the beauty in the face like the sun and good conversation

 Looking Back

Why did you want to participate in #40Faces?

Well, I did it on a whim. Why not, I thought to myself. Better to be involved than a bump on a log.

What were your feelings and thoughts while I was taking your pictures?

I tried to not be aware too much as pictures that are posed always seem less natural, more stilted. I wondered, too, what you were seeing through your lens.

What were your first and honest thoughts when you saw your pictures for the first time? After looking at them for a while? Now?

I was excited to see them, but a little apprehensive as to how I’d appear. It wasn’t as bad as I expected. Honestly, while I’m old on the outside, inside I feel much younger. My children enjoyed seeing them, too. I haven’t really looked at it a lot and generally don’t spend very much time looking and studying my face.

Before #40Faces what was your perception of beauty? What did you think of yourself? Others?

I love the saying “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”, at least I think it’s that way. If we see ourselves as God sees us, we’re all beautiful…especially if we have happy spirits, it shines through the outward appearance. What is that saying, “beauty is only skin deep”. I think that is physical beauty, and we may consider ourselves physically beautiful, or not, but what really counts are the inches below the skin and how we perceive ourselves. I have never considered myself beautiful, but I am comfortable in my own skin, and enjoy life.

What was your favorite post in the series, other than your own, why?

I’d have a hard time on a favorite…but they all had qualities of great beauty. I think there was one where I felt the person was less than happy…I think it was in the eyes, but then maybe that’s just the way she appeared to be to me, and she really is most happy.
